About Nigel
I started selling real estate in Philadelphia in 2005. Since then I’ve worked through a housing crash, a decade-long boom, a pandemic market that made no sense to anyone, and whatever we’re calling the current one. That’s the real value of twenty-one years: not that I’ve been around, but that I’ve priced houses in four completely different markets and I know which advice stops working when conditions turn.
Today I work in two of them. Philadelphia, where I live, and Newport, Rhode Island, where I’m also licensed. My clients tend to be people whose lives touch both places: a city house and a coast house, a move from one to the other, an estate that has to settle in two states at once. They’d rather deal with one person than manage a handoff between two firms who have never met.
A good part of my work is sales that come with something else attached: a divorce, an estate, a parent moving into care, siblings who inherited a house and disagree about it. Those need someone who can hold a plan steady while everyone else is having a hard year. I’ve also spent much of my career on the commercial side, working on warehouse conversions, loft buildings, mixed-use redevelopment, and dispositions in the eight figures. When a client owns a parcel, I can tell them what it is worth to a developer, which is often a very different number from what it is worth to a buyer.
Before real estate I spent more than twenty years touring the world as a techno DJ. People find that funny, and it is, but reading a room and staying calm when the night goes sideways turn out to be most of this job.
