Nigel’s Perspective on Interior Design and Home Decor
When it comes to designing your dream home, I know of a Realtor® that can help you out with a few great tips. Recently featured in Philadelphia Magazine, I’d love to help you find a place that truly makes you feel at home, as my residence does for me. My family and I have had a lot of fun bringing our house to life and creating a space that is perfect for entertaining and making memories. To learn about some of my favorite home design tips and stores, keep reading!
Interior design is personal, especially because you want your home to be filled with precious memories. One of my favorite tips is incorporating memorable photos throughout the home. Whether framing family photos or even your children’s artwork, these personal touches will make your residence feel more special. Moreover, you can pay tribute to your home’s location by incorporating artwork from local artists or working with local framers to frame pieces.
Secondly, it’s always useful to leverage help from a professional. My family has frequently worked with Evantine Design to purchase custom floral arrangements or find small interior accent pieces. Decorating with flowers is a timeless way to add color and freshness to your spaces. I’d also recommend working with ECG Design if you’re in need of hands-on help with interior design and decor selections.
My third design tip is to find unique home stores that you love. Over the years, I’ve accumulated a list of my favorite stores, which has allowed me to incorporate original and exclusive items into my home decor. Take your time, do some research, and find places that make you excited to decorate your home.
Not sure where to start? Here are five stores that I’ve relied on for finding unique art and home decor items.
Denny Dent Artwork: Not only do I love to showcase art created by my son, Jett, in my home, but I love Denny Dent’s artwork. You can purchase his pieces through various art brokerages and websites, but here’s one that I found online. Denny Dent is a speed painter who was well known for his performances and paintings of celebrities.
Analog Contemporary: Located in the heart of Fishtown, Analog Contemporary features exquisite artwork created by emerging and mid-career artists that embrace the basic elements of art. The space frequently hosts exhibitions and events, where visitors can browse and purchase pieces. Moreover, you can email their team to schedule an appointment.
Tailored Home: This Chestnut Hill retailer offers a wide variety of home items, from bedding to dishware to furnishings. Many of the store’s specialty brands provide curated and one-of-a-kind items. Also, if you’re looking to hire an interior designer, their specialists can help you with tailored services from consultation to construction.
Clover Market: With several locations established in the surrounding area, this is one of my favorite stops for sprucing up my bar cart. The market is known for showcasing beautiful, timeless products from people carving their own creative path. Many of the brands are from the Philadelphia area and proudly designed and produced in America. From time to time they also feature products designed locally and produced via fair trade partnerships.
Neighborhood Goods: This pop up market in Chelsea, New York is one of my favorite warehouse reuses. They have locations in many cities and offer very unique books that are perfect for sprucing up built-ins, coffee tables, shelves, and more.
