You Don’t Always Have to Travel Far to Feel Like You’re on Vacation

Happy March! The spring and summer months are quickly approaching, meaning now is the perfect time to plan your next vacation. Given the current climate of our world, many have been looking for ways to travel locally. Avoid the airport lines and possible COVID-19 testing protocols thanks to our list of incredible destinations that are all within driving distance of our region.

Newport, RI

A coastal city nestled upon Aquidneck Island in Rhode Island, Newport is one of our team’s favorite spots to vacation at. With gorgeous summer resorts that are surrounded by beautiful houses and rich history, there’s much to explore throughout this scenic beach town. Between 1930 and 1983, Newport was known as the location of the first U.S. Open Tournaments for both tennis and golf. Moreover, it previously served as one of the major 18th century ports within America and still showcases historic buildings that date back to the colonial era.

One of the most famous sites to see in Newport is The Breakers– an exquisite Victorian mansion that was completed in 1895 and first occupied by the Vanderbilt family. Self-guided tours are available daily and you can click here to learn more. Other famous sites include Cliff Walk, Newport Art Museum, and the Touro Synagogue National Historic Site. Furthermore, two family favorite beach options are Gooseberry and 3rd Beach.

Gurney’s on Goat Island is an incredible resort to stay at, regardless of the season. The marina is complete with igloo dining, gas fire pits, and an ice skating rink that overlooks the harbor and the Goat Island Lighthouse. Click here to learn more.

Wallkill, NY

Just north of New York City, you’ll find an incredible resort that is definitely worth the drive. The Awosting Club is a Ralph Lauren-esque log cabin surrounded by rope swings, hiking trails that lead to waterfalls, Jenga games set-up in the middle of the forest, and an onsite pool. Moreover, there are tastefully decorated geo domes that offer picturesque views of the valley of trees. Guests can even enjoy cooking their own dinner on the firepit, if desired.

With close proximity to Woodbury Commons, arguably one of the best designer outlets in the country, there is opportunity to enjoy this incredible shopping center on the way to or from The Awosting Club. In the heart of Rio Grande River Valley, this resort is nestled amongst 25 acres of lush lavender fields, cottonwood trees, and formal gardens. Providing ultimate serenity, charming guest rooms are complemented by completely organic menus with ingredients sourced on site.

Not only is the main building filled with everlasting history, but guests are able to enjoy the Hacienda Spa and onsite wellness classes. All of this is surrounded by the unique offerings only available in Los Ranchos De Albuquerque. Click here to learn more.

Philadelphia, PA

Sometimes, there’s nothing better than switching up your normal routine with a staycation! Philadelphia has so many incredible neighborhoods– each filled with a unique vibe and a wide variety of dining and shopping options. Consider exploring a new section of the city and treating yourself to a night outside of your home.

Newly opened, The W hotel features swanky designer appointments and a heated outdoor pool that is open year-round, providing a fun atmosphere. In fact, this hotel was recently featured in Forbes, here. Another great option is The Canopy Hotel, located in East Market. It features an onsite restaurant, The Wayward, which has received renowned reviews since its recent opening. Additionally, there is a Federal Donuts below the hotel which is perfect for enjoying a simple yet gluttonous treat.
